Description
The wolf pack of Langedrag Naturpark in Norway: [link] Tragically (thanks to the persecution of the sheep farmers*), these are some of the last wolves left in all of Norway. One of the wolves shown here was wandering the wild, all alone (his family had probably been killed), and actually showed up at the gate of the wolf enclosure, begging to be let in, so now he's a part of the pack. Had there been any other local packs left in the wild, he would have joined one of them instead of venturing this close to mankind, but for him, the only alternative was to be forever alone, which he obviously couldn't bear. It's sad to see him captive, but at least he'll be safe here, and can live out his natural life span. (Photo taken by my hubby ~sayh.)
*The sheep farmers blame wolves for their lost or killed sheep, but there simply aren't enough wolves left in Norway to do the amount of damage they are claimed to do (there are maybe a dozen of them left in the wild). Most of the lost and killed sheep are hit by cars, or are stolen by people, because the farmers let them wander all over the mountain roads, without any fences or guardian animals to protect them whatsoever.
