Artist's Comments

(Full-view recommended.) My hubby ~sayh snapped this shot in front of the Holmenkollen Hotel on the hill overlooking Oslo in the waning afternoon sun. I particularly love the shape of that dead windswept tree, and how the hooded crows struck a perfect pose for us. :) (The title is from this old folksong about a conversation between two crows.)

Very lovely! Though I would reccommend rotating the image slightly so the horizon is level with the top and bottom of the image. But that's just a suggestion. It's a lovely shot!

You're quite right...I've fixed it now; thanks! :)

This is of course beautiful, as are the other recent photographs ~sayh took. :D My attention picked up that extra bit the moment I saw the title too - I know this folk song, and how wonderfully apt that these two obliging crows should have posed for you. :D

Thanks, and yay! :D You should illustrate that song someday; nobody could do it better! And there are so many elements to it, so many questions unanswered...I believe his "Lady Fair-O" had him murdered, since the lyrics say he was "newly slain" (thus not suicide, obviously), and she knew his body was laying in the dyke, but she hadn't told anyone, and had already taken up with a new lover before her husband even had a chance to decompose, since his eyes were still "bonny blue". Makes you wonder what happened after that fellow overheard what the crows had said...do you think he ever turned her in? :)

As soon as I saw that title, I knew I'd have the song stuck in my head. Great shot! I love how the one crow has turned to the other, as if they really are having the conversation in the song.
